It is essential to guarantee access to information only to authorized individuals, preserve it intact in its entirety, and make it available when needed.
This is why gaining the trust and support of the customer goes far beyond a friendly greeting or an attractive and exciting outreach effort. It requires teamwork within every organization, involving all sectors and their key players.

At Hypernova Labs, teamwork is part of a culture that fills every space. Practices such as the onboarding process for new talent through peer-learning programs at Hypernova Labs, and setting goals with a broad vision of the company and each of its members, distinguish us as an organization where synergy is undoubtedly the force that drives us. Each unit contributes to the organization's achievements, and this certification process is no exception. Every aspect surrounding it has been in expert hands, each contributing their bit and bringing a unique perspective to the journey.
A good example of this is the insightful perspective offered by Viviana Corredor, Project Leader and technically responsible for everything related to the ISO 27001 Certification process. When asked about the impact on the organization, she does not hesitate to point to the strong commitment of each person involved as the key factor in the success and positive change within the company.
Going a bit further, when referring to her role as an expert and project leader, she describes it as “putting on the hat of leading internal processes so that everything works and aligns with what we want for the company’s future,” highlighting that this work dynamic generates “a great growth impact in addition to enhancing Hypernova Labs' internal and external credibility.”
For Viviana, it’s a great satisfaction to witness her colleagues’ total commitment and to have been able to lead, guide, and shape such an important process together.
Like any project, there were obstacles along the way, such as time limitations and the need for senior management to be directly involved. However, she also benefited from working with a team that thrives in a culture centered on organization, unity, and achieving goals, as well as from the confidence her expertise and mastery of the subject provided.
Viviana Corredor describes the impact of ISO 27001 Certification at Hypernova Labs as an achievement that allows them to “demonstrate that we are already a company that protects customer and employee information” and as an opportunity to connect with “multinational and more prestigious companies, so they may consider us as a potential partner for their technology developments.”
She sums up the benefits for the company in terms of information security management with a concise and decisive phrase:
“(...) We are a company with potential and differentiation from the competition. We not only have the tools and talent but also the commitment and confidentiality to manage it.”
She envisions a short-term future of growth and continuous improvement so that the company can continue working hard under the parameters of certifying bodies, and she takes away an important lesson from this process: the difference between completing a task and actively leading it.
Viviana now values even more the passion with which things are done and the importance of having a clear purpose in everything you do daily. She is grateful for the opportunity to have led this project, optimized resource use, and, more importantly, incorporated the full human talent of every member of the organization.
The process of achieving ISO 27001 certification opened many doors within Hypernova Labs. It even allowed for the parallel undertaking of continuous improvement work on both internal and external processes. The reason for these changes? Only with a new approach could we take on the challenge of offering a product backed by the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information that the certification demands.
Emeldo Quiroz, Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO), founding member, and responsible for everything related to software development within the company, believes that this certification became the catalyst for great things. He states that it allowed the optimization of existing processes, the creation of new ones from this experience, and the enhancement of the company’s image, both internally and externally to clients.
In his own words, “now all our processes always have the Information Security triad in mind: Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability.” In fact, and as an important note, Hypernova Labs took on the challenge of achieving ISO 27001 certification before ISO 9001, as is commonly done, and the results have been positive across the board. It has prepared us to achieve ISO 2700HNL certification in the future and strengthened us as a team when responding to client needs, regarding both information quality and the company’s internal needs.
Hypernova Labs is a young company, and this achievement has placed an important piece in its structure, adjusting timelines, processes, and objectives—necessary in the face of the company’s accelerated and sustained growth over time.
Quiroz asserts that “ISO 27001 is a standard that will allow us to further improve the security of our information and that of our clients. A proven and living system will guarantee the quality and security of our products and services.” Additionally, he confesses that he is happy because the certification gives them the confidence needed to take on new professional challenges, while also granting the freedom to change the business if it’s not working as expected. In two words: security and autonomy at every step.
The advantages and disadvantages along the way are part of every challenge one decides to undertake, and this was no exception. What stands out the most is the human growth this experience brought to the team, which Emeldo simply describes as the two sides of the same coin. Although his own work methodology (strict and demanding to deliver high-quality results) was an obstacle at the beginning, over time it became an ally, alongside the commitment of every team member in achieving this milestone.
